Eastminster takes seriously the promise made
during services of baptism, to bring up children and youth and adults in the
faith. We believe "the primary aim of congregational life is to nurture --
among children, youth, and adults -- a vibrant, life-changing faith, the kind of
faith that shapes one's way of being, thinking, and acting" (from A Teaching
Church by Eugene Roehlkepartain).
One important way we live out this
commitment is through our educational programming. Christian Education for
all ages is a major priority for our church. Under the leadership of
Miatta Wilson, our full-time Director of Christian Education, we provide
opportunities for continuing the journey of faith together through Sunday Church
School, Wednesday Night Programs, Special Bible Studies, and Youth and
Children's Fellowship Groups--all of which are described on this page.
And
as a church we strive to live up to the Great Ends of the Church as
presented in the Presbyterian Book of Order. The Great Ends of the
Church are the proclamation of the gospel for the salvation of humankind; the
shelter, nurture, and spiritual fellowship of the children of God; the
maintenance of Divine worship; the preservation of the truth; the promotion of
social righteousness; and the exhibition of the Kingdom of Heaven to the world.
So Christian Education is also taking place during worship, mission, and
fellowship events.
